Mummy Pops

Well, I went completely out of my comfort zone on this one!!  My friend Nancy from Always a Story had posted a pic of some adorable chocolate covered Oreo Mummy pops.  Well, my son's 5th grade class was having a bake sale to raise money for a class trip in the Spring and I thought, "I can do that!". HA!
There were also a few different versions on Pinterest.
You can find them both on my Halloween board, http://www.pinterest.com/co11een903/halloween/

First, let me just say that I have never, ever even melted chocolate before. I have never put a stick into the creme filling of an Oreo. Both are harder than they seem.
Lots of Oreos were hurt and consumed during this production.
I had to make grooves in the creme then dip a stick into the chocolate and then sandwich the cookie back together. Carefully. They break EASILY!
They take a bit to completely harden.... don't try to move them until they are 100% hardened!

The finished product! I wrapped a glass jar in gauze and added some paper eyes with red pearls! Dumped a small bag of rice in there so they wouldn't all flop around too.
On the inside, it just gives a description of what it is and what I used to make them (allergy purposes)

I couldn't fit them all in here, so the extras went in a bag so we could replenish the supply as needed.

I am happy to say that they sold out within the first hour, jar and all!! The nurse wanted it for her office!!

All in all, a pretty good success!!
